Last week marked another great year for the Mesh Conference and one of the people taking part was Arianna Huffington, the founder of The Huffington Post which became part of AOL in February of this year (see the story here). One of the reasons for the deal was to help accelerate their international expansion. The first step in their worldly advance was up North, with the launch of The Huffington Post Canada which she formally unveiled at the Mesh Conference. (more…)
Portfolio Night took place on May 26th, 2011 across the globe organized by ihaveanidea to help future creatives meet with some of the best creative directors that the advertising industry has to offer. In life you want to win not necessarily like Charlie Sheen but most of us want to be I’m the winner’s circle. To get to that point is usually determined by the daily battle for inches. We fight bit by bit and it isn’t gonna just be the wins but the losses that create the foundation for your success.
So for this job I am trying to learn about the culture of the organization and understand the politics that will come into play in any organization. There are many players involved and I need to become a resource to help get there where they need to be.
I don’t know what I am going to do right now and I really don’t know what the future will hold but I want to take it as far as I can because the potential to be a difference marker for them is high and that is a goal well worth pursuing.

It is hard to believe that I am actually working now, not because I didn’t think it could happen but because I had my doubts it would.
I had a lot of help getting to this point and it js not been easy or is the job I got what I expected to be doing. See I wanted to be an account executive at an ad agency but I was so frustrated I just stopped believing it was possible and now I just started working as a copywriter when that was not even close to what i set put wanting to do.
Things are still really new and there are so many challenges on the horizon that I am still trying to figure out how I create this position. See the firm knows they need to change to meet the changes in the market but how to do it, get buy I’m and all that fun stuff is still up in the air.
How do you create a job that didn’t exist before is the big question I am trying to answer and the answer is a moving target, changing day to day or moment to moment.
So I am gonna try to create small daily and weekly goals on what I think o need to do. My goal for today is get a feel for the voice of the brand as it stands today.
My goal this week is to get halfway through Web Analytics 2.0 and understand as much of it as I can. I also think that since I have a super long commute I am going to use it as a chance to blog more regularly and see what happens. That is the plan so wish me luck.
