Twitter – Remember when your API’s were open, you were better then

So Twitter now that you are one of the social media platforms in the rarified space of the Facebook variety you have begun to cut access to elements of your API that other services like Tumblr used. I guess you are not really a social network when it comes to developers. What gives, it was that open API that helped you to get where you were. Have you forgotten that and how beneficial those connections have been to you as a company and your users. Your recent removal of the find friends feature for Tumblr does not help users of the service in any shape or form.

Are you going to be going the Apple route and kill off the vines that have allowed you to climb so high in the first place. I hope not but your recent moves have given me pause. I understand the need to want to create a consistent twitter experience but if I were a developer I would think twice about how I use your API because of these recent changes. You are still the social network I use the most but I hope you stay more open than closed.
