The Crash, Burn and Reflection

I cannot say I didn’t, I can only admit that I did
That I was the fire that burned, when I needed to be the water that cooled
I seek understanding, not necessarily forgiveness
That I am in no way without fault, fear or mistakes
I will own them, to be better because of them
Not hide in spite of them because the mistakes define as much as success
They teach in ways that the wins never can because they come from the hurt
Hurt remembers more than pleasure, its contrast lets us know the difference
Once we recognize we can prioritize and move the needle
Not to where we seek to go but where we need to go
