I was reading on Mashable that Amazon is having a contest where they ask their audience to create their own Kindle commercial. It is in celebration of version 3.0 of the Kindle device which is now only $139 US compared to what it cost before. I love these types of things because you can see how really passionate people are and can see how unique and different the content is from each other. As someone who has tried (and failed) to get into advertising, if I was a creative guy I would make it my mission to look for these contests and do them all.
The goal is to win and create a unique portfolio. It would be a portfolio created for contest entries. One I think I would be more fun and two your work would get seen my more people. So when you go to an agency and they ask to see your portfolio most of it will be made with a focus on being shared especially the video. Now I know it wouldn’t be possible to do this for everything like print, web and so on but you can extend what you do for these ad creation contests and take those basic ideas into the other mediums that way you have a consistent theme around the ideas you create.
I am thinking about it, at least it wouldn’t be a normal book and something that maybe would catch the eye of a creative director or two.
Here is one of the first commercials done by people for the Kindle they have”
With the Courier dead and buried here’s to another tablet. I like the basic look of the UI that is running under Windows 7. They make it interesting if a little inconsistent. I hope that this prototype can become a full fledged product. I know it probably can’t outdo the iPad, the Courier was their hope of that but if they focus on user design and understand that all those little details matter, maybe just maybe something like this will have a chance and not get killed before it ever lived.
The peel and reveal looks pretty slick, still needs lots of optimization but maybe something will come from this, we can only hope (and pray) Microsoft gets its act together.

Out of all the movies I was looking forward to I don’t think I will be disappointed in Tron Legacy. Boya!
It isn’t in English but you don’t need to understand it to get it. Very funny.
