When I started Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim I wondered how it would compare to other RPGs I have played. I haven’t played any of the other games in the Elder Scroll series but I have played others in the genre like Neverwinter Nights, Dragon Age and Dragon Age 2. Currently my most anticipated game is Mass Effect 3 cause I have played both the other games.
Also the ability to choose a path or I guess you can call it a career. Whether you wanted to play with the magic as a mage, or drip your sword in blood as a warrior, or finally work the black market as a thief. The sense of choice is grand. I was a warrior and I settled in Whiterun. I didn’t do the civil war story until I was at level 20 and I took the Imperial side. The stormcloak side just seemed so xenophobic for my tastes.
I know the Imperials were not great either with their clamping down on a certain belief but they were the best out of bad options and I liked the capital city of Solitude better than Windhelm which seemed rundown in comparison but the house you can buy there is pretty sweet. I am itching to get back to Skyrim since being away from home for the holidays.
I was my crack for some time and I enjoy it a lot. One of the best games I played last year and I hope this will hold until Mass Effect 3 comes knocking in March. I named my warrior Lancelot for obvious reasons and here is a gameplay trailer of Skyrim. If you love a good RPG and an epic adventure then this is one you should definitely check out.
Here is a video from IGN Entertainment that goes into the gameplay of Skyrim. Great job Bethesda on another awesome game with a great sense of scale and a seemly endless amount of content to explore. YOU ROCK! I hope that there are great and substantial DLC for this world because it deserves it. (Just know that exclusivity for DLC SUCKS!)
