Reading Game of Thrones and Watching the Show

I have never been one to worry about spoilers so I don’t mind reading the novels for Game of Thrones and watching the HBO TV show at the same time. I think it is interesting to see what stays true and what changes from book to the screen. One of the issues with a story with so many characters is that you only get a few beats from them in an episode if any at all. With the novels I am reading it based on the characters which leaves gaps but I just want to know where they are at the end of it all. I am so going to be in a world of hurt if I have to wait another couple of years before we get to the last 2 books in the series.

My big question is I wonder what the writers will do with A Feast of Crows and A Dance with Dragons which are split geographically and occur at the same time. I hope they go at chronologically instead of geographically. I think that is the only way to go about it since you see overlapping perspectives through those books. All I do know is that they will need to use all 20 episodes and possibly a couple more to do the story justice.

Oh yeah can I say I HATE  Theon Greyjoy so very much but at this point in the show that is the entire point. I will feel a tiny bit for him later on but for now I loath him for what he is about to do to the Starks. I know what happens to him later and I can’t say that I am sad about it given what he is doing to Robb in episode 3. So far my favourite characters are Jon Snow, Brandon Stark, Tyrion Lannister and Cersei Lannister. Jon is a character I can identify with, being on the outside and looking in. Bran is a character I feel sorry for not just the accident but where it looks like the story is taking him later.  Tyrion is a smart bastard that knows his strengths and weaknesses and uses them to their maximum. Cersei I love to hate but I can see why she is doing what she is doing and it will be fascinating to see what she does as the castle caves in around her. That I will replay many times.

Well I gotta get to reading, I feel bad, I don’t want to read all the books so fast. I want to enjoy the world that Martin created. I love the splendor of the world they created on-screen. When I read the books I see things in my mind’s eye a bit differently and I like being able to get more context than the screen can provide but I don’t know what I would rather have the novels or the show, I am happy we have both. I just hope with the series moving along we can get the last 2 way faster.

Let’s see the season 2 trailer again cause it is so epic:
